Essential Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned and changed as needed):
  • Work effectively with team members to maximize productivity, quality, and efficiency throughout the Glue Line.
  • Operate and perform assigned tasks on the mattress Glue Line according to established production procedures and work instructions.
  • Apply adhesive/glue to mattress components in the correct amount and location according to product specifications.
  • Assemble, position, align, and bond mattress components and materials accurately during the gluing process.
  • Ensure foam, fabric, springs, and other mattress components are properly positioned and securely bonded before the product moves to the next production stage.
  • Inspect glue application and bonded components for proper coverage, adhesion, alignment, and overall workmanship.
  • Identify and correct glue-related defects, including insufficient or excessive adhesive, improper placement, loose components, or poor bonding.
  • Maintain a consistent production pace to ensure daily and weekly production goals are met.
  • Monitor work being performed throughout the shift to ensure products meet EBI's quality standards.
  • Follow established procedures for the safe handling, application, and storage of adhesives and other materials used on the Glue Line.
  • Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow applicable Safety Data Sheet (SDS) instructions when working with adhesives and chemicals.
  • Immediately report equipment malfunctions, adhesive application problems, quality concerns, spills, or unsafe conditions to the Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • Keep glue equipment, tools, workstations, and surrounding production areas clean and properly maintained.
  • Follow all OSHA requirements and EBI safety rules, regulations, procedures, and standards.
  • Separate recyclable materials from trash and place materials in the appropriate designated bins.
  • At the completion of daily tasks, clean the entire work area and ensure it is free of clutter, excess materials, adhesive residue, and debris.
  • Keep aisles, walkways, electrical panels, emergency exits, and fire extinguishers free and clear of products, materials, and other obstructions.
  • Communicate completion of daily tasks, production issues, material shortages, equipment concerns, and quality problems to the Team Leader.
  • Adhere to all EBI policies, procedures, and work practices and follow Team Leader and Supervisor directives consistently, respectfully, professionally, and effectively in a manner reflecting EBI's quality expectations and standards of conduct.

Primary Objectives
  • Complete all Glue Line duties and other tasks delegated by the Team Leader or supervising authority.
  • Produce mattress components that meet established quality and production standards.
  • Apply adhesives accurately, consistently, and safely.
  • Effectively manage time and maintain the production pace necessary to meet specified deadlines and production goals.
  • Comply with applicable safety regulations, work instructions, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Work cooperatively as part of the Mattress Department production team.
  • Minimize waste of adhesive, materials, and other production supplies.
  • When assigned daily tasks are completed, contact the Team Leader or Supervisor for additional assignments.
Requirements
  • Physical ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions throughout the assigned work shift.
  • Physical ability to repetitively lift, push, pull, and maneuver 50 pounds or more throughout the assigned work shift.
  • Ability to work safely around adhesives, production equipment, machinery, and other materials commonly used in mattress manufacturing.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and follow chemical-handling and safety procedures.
  • 6 months to 1 year of manufacturing or production experience preferred.
  • Glue line, adhesive application, mattress manufacturing, or similar assembly experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend work instructions, safety information, product specifications, and directions.
  • Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurements using whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
  • Ability to recognize quality defects and follow established procedures for correcting or reporting nonconforming products.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment.
  • Ability and willingness to perform other duties as assigned as they relate to the scope and nature of EBI's business.
  • Ability to transfer to another shift and/or department as business and production needs require.
